BRIEF BACKGROUND Graeme was contracted as (founding) Chief Executive of the Australian Sales Institute, an incorporated association, in September 1994. The Institute, via membership vote in 2000, amended its name to AUSTRALIAN SALES & MARKETING INSTITUTE in January 2001.
Graeme's earlier roles included being Chief Executive of the AUSTRALIAN INSTITUTE OF ARBITRATORS and simultaneously Secretary-General of the AUSTRALIAN CENTRE FOR INTERNATIONAL COMMERCIAL ARBITRATION
Prior to that, Graeme was Chief Executive of the AUSTRALIAN MARKETING INSTITUTE (AMI) 1990-94 where, in particular, he constructed and directed the development and launch of the Certified Practising Marketer (CPM), now the established marketing benchmark in Australia.
Graeme has led a series of benchmarking and professional standards development in industry and professional associations - including; *1996-98 marketing advisor and media consultant to NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF ACCOUNTANTS (NIA) *1994 developed and consulted for the restructure of the AUSTRALIAN CORPORATE LAWYERS ASSOCIATION *1990 was one of the two international consultants to develop and implement the internal and external charters for the structure for the CREDIT UNION SOCIETY, California (USA) *1989 wrote and developed the internal and external charters for the CREDIT UNION SOCIETY (Australia) *1986 co-wrote the 'Professional Development Program' (PDP) for AUSTRALIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT *1982-84 Graeme was contracted as Marketing Consultant by(then) AUSTRALIAN SOCIETY OF ACCOUNTANTS (now CPA Australia) to write, launch and monitor the Certified Practising Accountant (CPA)

ADDITIONAL Graeme was the sole Australian keynote speaker at the 1996 WORLD CONGRESS OF ASSOCIATIONS in Vancouver, Canada in April 1996 - leading sessions on "Igniting A Revolution In Your Organisation" and "Cultural Diversity: A Great Opportunity".
He has subsequently spoken at the World Congress in 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2004.
He was also a keynote on “The Value of Benchmarking” in Washington DC for the AMERICAN SOCIETY OF ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVES in 1997 and at the Sales & Marketing Management Conference in New York in July 2001 on "The Future of Professional Associations".

GRAEME ORR Chief Executive
(General) Graeme was contracted as (founding) Chief Executive of the Australian Sales Institute, an incorporated association, in September 1994. The Institute, by member vote in 2000, amended its name to AUSTRALIAN SALES & MARKETING INSTITUTE in January 2002.

In 1982-84 Graeme was contracted as Marketing Executive by (then) AUSTRALIAN SOCIETY OF ACCOUNTANTS to write, launch and monitor the Certified Practising Accountant (CPA).
Graeme has an accomplished record within senior roles in strategic marketing, lateral management, and professional benchmarking.
He has been a consistently published International Freelance Journalist of thirty four years standing - published in almost 1,100 newspapers and magazines in 41 countries and thirteen languages - and been the recipient of international and national awards.
Graeme's diverse background includes; * was (consultant) senior creative copywriter with USP NEEDHAM, Australia's third largest advertising agency in 1980-83. * is one of the “overflow” speech writers for leading corporate executives and politicians (including federal Ministers) 1975-current. * an international actor in USA, UK and Australia during 1971-1983, working in television and motion pictures - appearing in virtually ALL Australian television drama series (except 'Number 96') produced in that period. * an international public speaker including - sole Australian keynote speaker at the 1996 World Congress of Associations in Vancouver, Canada in April 1996 - leading sessions on "Igniting A Revolution In Your Organisation" and "Cultural Diversity: A Great Opportunity". PUBLIC SPEAKING Graeme is a public speaker on a variety of business related and general topics. He usually requests that a fee be payable to one of his favourite 'good causes' (see Community Activity below).
ASSOCIATION CONSULTANCY & MANAGEMENT Among numerous achievements and projects, Graeme was; * contracted to write and launch the CPA program for the AUSTRALIAN SOCIETY OF ACCOUNTANTS 1982-4 (now CPA SOCIETY) * consultant to the AUSTRALIAN CREDIT UNION SOCIETY (ACUS) developing draft legislation for Credit Unions 1985 * assisted in developing the Professional Development Program (PDP) with the AUSTRALIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT (AIM) in 1986. * appointed Chief Executive of the AUSTRALIAN MATRKETING INSTITUTE (AMI) 1990-94 (resurrecting the AMI from seven years of accumulated financial deficit and lost market influence - through two years of record surpluses). * additionally - while at AMI - responsible for developing and launching the Certified Practising Marketer (CPM), the national marketing management benchmark. * while at AMI also established the Council of Australian Marketing Services Associations (CAMSA) - the strategic marketing voice to government. * Graeme remains an advisory industry member of the Marketing Industry Advisory Working Committee at RMIT University (1993-current). * national consultant for the total restructure of the AUSTRALIAN CORPORATE LAWYERS ASSOCIATION (ACLA) in 1994 * was the strategic media management consultant for the NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF ACCOUNTANTS (NIA) 1994-99. * In 1994, Graeme was appointed founding Chief Executive preceding the successful launch of a new professional body; the Australian Sales Institute (ASI) which currently boasts sales directors and senior marketing management as members.

COMMUNITY ACTIVITY Graeme has an extensive involvement in community activity, including; * Board member of FAMILY PLANNING VICTORIA Inc 1998-2003. * currently (honorary) Advisory Member to the Board of ACCION INTERNATIONAL since 1988; a USA based organisation which provides small loans to people (particularly to women) acting as micro entrepreneurs in small business in Latin American countries. ACCION loaned US$90 million of donated corporate funds in 2005 and has a 98% repayment rate. * past President of the UNITED NATIONS ASSOCIATION OF AUSTRALIA (UNAA) 1987-90 * was a member of Board of UNICEF 1987-89 * past National President of SAVE THE CHILDREN FUND AUSTRALIA (SCFA) 1988-90. * former State Chairman and national Board member of AUSTRALIAN FREEDOM FROM HUNGER CAMPAIGN 1988-91 (and part of the integration committee 1990 to 'merge' AFFHC and Community Aid Abroad....now known as Oxfam Australia) * former member of the Board of the METROPOLITAN AMBULANCE SERVICE (MAS) Victoria, 1991-93 * (honorary) consultant at request of State Department of Community Welfare Services to VICTORIAN ASSOCIATION CITIZENS ADVICE BUREAUS (VACAB) 1992-96. * (honorary) member of the MULTICULTURALISM IN THE MEDIA COMMITTEE attached to the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA), Department of Prime Minister & Cabinet, Canberra during 1986-1996.
AWARDS & HONOURS Graeme has been recognised in business activity by awards, including; * the prestigious (bi-annual) national 1994 GOLD AWARD at the High Court of Australia, Canberra for "Outstanding Achievement in Association Management" from the AUSTRALIAN SOCIETY OF ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVES (AUSAE).
In addition, he has received numerous awards for community activity including; * a UN GENEVA PRIZE 1986 (from City of Geneva) * Finalist in the 'AUSTRALIAN OF THE YEAR' 1988 (nominated by National Australia Day Council) * presented with a National Australia Day Council AUSTRALIAN ACHIEVER AWARD on Australia Day Bicentenery 1988 at Kirribilli House (Sydney) by the Prime Minister (Bob Hawke). * awarded MELBURNIAN OF THE YEAR 1988 by the City of Melbourne (Melbourne City Council) on Australia Day 1989. *
Additionally, Graeme is also a member of the GLOUCESTERSHIRE COUNTY CRICKET CLUB in UK and RICHMOND CRICKET CLUB (Victoria) - both for whom he formerly played.
He enjoys reading, writing, current affairs, public speaking, theatre, music, cricket and a lay interest in science and anthropology. #
